Borderlands
Hotglue Gun

For this project, we were tasked with redesigning a hot glue gun.
I drew inspiration from the visual style of Borderlands, particularly its use of cel-shading and procedurally generated weapons that create unique and expressive forms.
My design translates this aesthetic into a functional tool, combining exaggerated, stylized geometry with practical construction. The glue gun incorporates key internal components, including the trigger-driven feed mechanism (pusher and follower) and the heated nozzle assembly, ensuring the design remains grounded in real-world functionality.
To validate the form and assembly, I produced a full-scale 3D-printed mock-up. The prototype includes heat-set threaded inserts and standard hardware, allowing it to be assembled and disassembled while maintaining structural integrity.
This project explores the intersection of expressive styling and mechanical realism, demonstrating how a playful, game-inspired visual language can be applied to a functional, manufacturable product.
