For this project, I was tasked with designing a product that could be manufactured using aluminum extrusion.

Throughout the process, we explored the constraints and opportunities of the manufacturing method, including constant cross-sections, internal cavities, and material efficiency.

In response, I developed a set of computer speakers that fully leverage these constraints. The design features an internal Helmholtz resonator suspended within the aluminum extruded chassis, using the geometry of the extrusion to enhance acoustic performance. By integrating the resonator directly into the structure, the design improves sound quality—particularly in low-frequency response—without adding additional components or complexity.

This project demonstrates how manufacturing limitations can be used as a design driver, resulting in a product that is both functional and materially efficient.
